Ida Kjellman got the opportunity to learn the agile way of life when she was working with a startup company six years ago. Since then, she says she has been learning more and more about it every day. Today she is a Scrum Master and a part of the Development Team at BIMobject HQ in Malmö, Sweden.
What does your workday as a Scrum Master look like?
Being a Scrum Master at BIMobject, no two days are ever the same. But we usually start our days with standups. Right now I have three tribes that I meet and get the latest news from. What happened yesterday, what will happen today. I always need to be on top of everything; what sessions are planned for what tribe, what information do they need, who is doing what and so on. Then it’s time to prepare a planning session, a release meeting, a retrospective or a demo. I spend a lot of time trying to make sure that the right people have the right information, so they can solve their tasks. I love being a part of this department.
What do you like about working at BIMobject?
I find myself surrounded by extremely intelligent people that I learn from all the time. That is one of the upsides of my job. Another one is that I get to be a part of something bigger. When individuals work together, with common goals and with a common mindset – that’s when magic happens.
What do you like about your own role?
I like the unpredictable ups and downs. The only thing we know is that everything is unpredictable - that is something we can plan for. We move so fast in this business that we constantly need to evaluate the way we work. We don’t have time for bad patterns. It may sound easy, but it isn’t. It keeps me on my toes every day.
